Review:

Fashion TV: The Mix doesn't stride across the catwalk quite as gracefully as some of the other mixes in the series, most notably Fashion TV: Summer 2002 Collection. Though the mix of house tracks such as Michelle Weeks' "The Light," BKW's remix of Victoria Gray's "Supaguy," and Superstar DJs' "Let's Be Free" is as seamless and stylish as one could wish, the album seems to sacrifice individuality for the sake of flow. That's not to say that there aren't highlights -- DJ F.E.X.'s hypnotic, Indian-tinged "Indie Walk"; Paul Johnson's brisk, disco-inspired "Follow This Beat"; and Antoine Claraman and Lulu Hughes' commanding "Release Yourself" are chief among them. It's more that Fashion TV: The Mix is smaller, less diverse, and features fewer well-known house movers and shakers than some of the previous Fashion TV mixes, though Edouard de Tricasse, Silver & K's "Hollywood Is Burning," and the aforementioned tracks by Johnson and Claraman up the ante a bit. Nitpicking aside, the album does offer a smooth, sexy house mix that's perfectly appropriate for the catwalk or dancefloor, even it's a little more conservatively cut than Fashion TV's prior collections. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
